More health posts inaugurated-Bringing health care services closer to the community
Initially, on June 17th 2014 the official launch to mark the construction of the health posts was conducted at 4 sites in Karongi, Gicumbi, Nyagatare and Nyamagabe districts. Completed health posts have started operating and providing health care services to the population within the communities where they are located. Health posts that are not yet fully completed will be complete at the end of May 2015.According to the Minister of Health Dr. Agnes Binagwaho, the health posts strongly support the mission of the Ministry of health of having healthy population, living longer a healthier life and a commitment to provide all the necessary services for preventive, curative and rehabilitative care, and geographical equity, through even distribution of health services across Rwanda.
Health posts that will be officially inaugurated today include those in Kicukiro, Kirehe, Burera, Rusizi, and Nyaruguru districts. In addition to bringing health care services closer to the community, the construction of the health posts in line with Rwanda’s vision of having one health post per cell by 2017. It is anticipated that by 2017 a total number of 1,548 new health posts will be set up.
